Host, Director, Producer

Hi Everybody! I'm Casey Slade Your host, and I would like to proudly Welcome you to The world of WILD COOKS KITCHEN! As you go through the site, I would like you to keep one thing in mind. I am not here to reinvent the wheel. I know there are many folks out there already familiar with much of this content and in many ways some of this info will be old hat and nothing new for them. I get that. Me being quite the beginner for the most part, I and others like me, need as much guidance as we can get. That is why I count on your expertise, experience, knowledge and spirit of giving and sharing to be able to promote and grow the world of Living, Thriving and Surviving on game. In today's world, more and more people, like myself, are realizing that we can’t trust our food sources anymore. Not even bread is bread..And now they are growing meat in a lab. Safety and integrity has been lost to the highest bidder while providing the lowest quality to make as much money on all of us as they can. Now, with the thousands of reports and studies out showing what we are ACTUALLY eating, and how bad it actually is for us, more and more people are taking the personal responsibility of what they, and their family will eat, what’s in it and where it came from. The VERY best way to do that is raise it yourself, make it yourself and or go out and harvest it yourself. I for one, feel better knowing that the meat I just consumed, grew from what it ate in nature, rather than man made crap pumped full of tricks to fool us into thinking what we are eating is actually food.  Part of the inspiration of this for me, is my desire to learn and experience as much as I can to help myself and others decrease our dependence on corporate food stores who sell nothing but poison. I want to meet families from all over the country and the world that live this lifestyle. I want to hear your stories, taste your recipes, prepared in YOUR own kitchen! I want to hear your tips, tricks and skills passed down from generation to generation as well as anything new you may come up with!!! Here is a little about myself, how and where I grew up that inspired me to create WILD COOKS KITCHEN. I grew up in a very small town in rural Central New York State. It's a beautiful forest laden community nestled in the rolling hills of Chenango County. It's a community made up of hard working, salt of the earth people. Many of whom hunt, fish, trap and forage. My Father, his friends and colleagues among them. Now, I by no means would consider my father an outdoorsman per say, he was a businessman, but he was just the kind of guy who knew a lot about a lot. He spent time hunting as a kid, so even though he was not able to take me out hunting, he knew how to teach me to do it. He had a wide variety of interests he could talk at length about.Weather it was teaching me how to throw a fastball, or how to bait a hook and properly cast a line, or how to string and shoot a bow and arrow, how to shoot skeet and trap, at The Lost Pond Club, this place was my favorite place in the world as a young boy and more importantly, “How NOT to shoot your buddy”…Casey fun fact #4397.  It was my first time shooting skeet, I got to the 12th station, nailed both singles high house and low house. It was now to doubles. When the birds flew I nailed one, and immediately started tracking the second, and kept tracking it to where I ended up following it all the way over and instead of looking at the bird or sky, I was now pointed straight at my Dad and 4 of his friends.  With a loaded shotgun and my young, inexperienced nervous finger firmly on the trigger…So glad I did not fire, and so were they…LOL…I was 11. I've still got the gun. Looking back it's really funny remembering vividly the expressions of sheer terror on their faces, but as an adult, it also reinforces the fact that something so innocent can become tragic in an instant with a mis-timed pull of the trigger. FACT. We then went into the clubhouse and had a wonderful meal of venison stew, some duck and rabbit pasta. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was the first time I had venison stew as well as duck. I was already hunting rabbits out back of my house by then and had prepared it quite a few ways. This is just a little window into my background and inspiration for the show. Stay tuned for more to come!
